The Importance of Good Indoor Air Quality

It’s important for you and your family to breathe clean, safe air inside your home!

Your Home’s Air is Constantly Changing

The air inside of our homes, and consequently, the air we breathe most often, is constantly changing. Doors open and close. Windows open and close. Homes aren’t air-tight, so outside air can seep in through cracks and crevices, through attic openings and other passageways. Inside pets present their own issues with dander, odors, and other circumstances that are normal with owning a pet.

The Truth About Standard Air Filters

Unless you have customized comfort solutions in your home, you probably have a standard 1-inch thick HVAC air filter. While standard air filters do a great job at catching particles that enter your system, the truth is, they can’t catch everything in your home.

Most standard filters only capture particles between 7 and 10 microns in size. Usually, this means particles that the eye can see such as hair, fur, and larger dirt and mold particles will be caught by a standard air filter. Upgrading to a HEPA filter means smaller particles, no less than .3 microns in size, will be captured. However, even with the highest quality air filters, not all allergens will be eliminated from your home.

Allergy sufferers are even more at risk when your indoor air quality is not as good as it should be. The spring season compounds air quality issues even more with pollen and other airborne contaminants that can easily invade your home.
